Nassim Ghani, Registered Clinical Counsellor
When people come to counselling, they’re often looking to make changes in their lives. There’s no set timeline for how long therapy will take to meet personal goals—everyone’s journey is unique. How long it takes can depend on where someone is in their healing process, their life’s practical circumstances, and the specific challenges they’re dealing with. The goal of counselling is to empower people to create the changes they want in their lives. Change happens at its own pace for each individual, and the therapeutic relationship is all about working together. This partnership helps clients build the skills, confidence, and sense of agency they need to explore new possibilities for themselves and their relationships. Nassim has over five years of experience working with clients in both private and public settings. Her areas of expertise include: - Anxiety and Depression - Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) - Grief and Loss - Financial Concerns - Relationship Conflicts - Addiction - Addiction in Families - Chronic Health - LGBTQ+ - Immigration and Cross-Cultural Concerns - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) She holds a master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia. Her practice is informed by a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches acquired through postgraduate education, ongoing professional development, supervision, and certification. While her foundation lies in the person-centred approach of Rogerian therapy, she frequently incorporates principles and techniques from cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, emotion-focused therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based practices. Nassim’s therapeutic philosophy is based on the belief that individuals already possess the resilience, creativity, and resources to effect desired changes. Developing awareness of one's skills, strengths, and knowledge is central to her practice. She aims to create a supportive environment where clients feel safe, accepted, and understood exactly as they are. Her approach focuses on helping clients develop a deeper understanding of the barriers they face in living authentically according to their values, and providing tools to empower them to address emotional and practical life challenges.
